Halloween is knocking!
In this project, students will paint a cat that is scared. They will work with different kinds of lines and textures. Kids love Halloween, and they also love animals. Why not integrate the two into one work of art?
This is a great occasion to represent an emotion in your artwork.
Your students will definitely be proud of their Scaredy Cats!
Level:
- Grades 2 and up
- Drawings of the starts of cats could be printed and continued by younger students or students that are having difficulty.
Techniques:
- Painting using tempera paint.
- Additions of dry pastels, and black and white pencil crayon.
Visual Language:
- Different kinds of lines: Straight, broken, long, short, thin, thick
- Different textures
Materials:
- White cardboard (10 x 15 inches), one per student
- Scrap pieces of paper (2 per student)
- Black tempera paint
- Small and large paintbrushes
- Water containers
- Dry pastels
- Black and white pencil crayons
- Wet rags for wiping fingers
