Description
With Halloween coming up, costumes are always a hot topic. Here is a way to connect costumes and the social studies topic of occupations through literacy activities. Packet includes instructions which describe several pre-teaching strategies, lesson ideas for building and using a word wall, and both picture/word and word only flashcards.
Just copy and print copies of these (use card stock for sturdier product). You can also print in grayscale and have students color them for an extra step. Using the high-interest topic of Halloween costumes, you can build a fun word wall that can stay up long after Halloween is over. And you will have a product that can be used year after year!
