Description

VIDEO HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT

Looking for a fun competition to practice advanced equivalent expressions with a Halloween theme? This Slide deck was created to challenge my higher students with more difficult expressions. Students can work in teams, compete against classmates, or work independently to sort the Google Slides into the correct order. The first slide is labeled "Start". It will have a problem to solve that deals with Distributive Property, Combining Like Terms, or Operations with Integers. Students must match the expression at the bottom of that slide, with an equivalent expression at the top of another slide. They will click and hold on the correct thumbnail on the left side, and then move it into place under it's equivalent. When completed correctly, all thumbnail slides will be in the correct order, ending with the slide stating "The End". Challenge them to see how quickly they can put the slides in order.

*Watch the Video Instructions to see how to move the slides.

Advanced Expressions Include:

*Expressions with more than one different variable

*Advanced Distributive Property

*Expressions with Fractions

*Expressions with Decimals

*Expressions with Exponents

*Expressions that convert between Fractions and Decimals

Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients.
Solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically. Apply properties of operations to calculate with numbers in any form; convert between forms as appropriate; and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies. For example: If a woman making $25 an hour gets a 10% raise, she will make an additional 1/10 of her salary an hour, or $2.50, for a new salary of $27.50. If you want to place a towel bar 9 3/4 inches long in the center of a door that is 27 1/2 inches wide, you will need to place the bar about 9 inches from each edge; this estimate can be used as a check on the exact computation.
