What educators are saying

Great resource to prep my students for comprehension passages and questions they might see on tests. Introducing them to new Science topics at their level.
All of the resources from this seller are amazing! This one made a great addition to our grade 2 unit on habitats.

Description

This resource is a set of nonfiction reading comprehension passages and leveled science readers about habitats & ecosystems for second grade students. Four different topics are included in both article format and book/reader format. You will receive 48 reading choices in this download.

Each passage and reader is included in 3 reading levels giving you 12 printable passages + 12 printable readers for a total of 24 reading choices. Each of these resources are also included in a digital version on Google Slides. These informational reading resources are an ideal companion to the Habitats & Ecosystems 2nd Grade Science unit.

The reading levels used are: 400-500L, 500-600L, and 600-700L. These carefully written resources are ready-to-use comprehension and close reading practice for your students. They are an ideal way to build reading skills while reinforcing science content.

Easy to differentiate, each leveled passage and reader includes 2 sets of questions. Text dependent questions for students to locate and color code evidence in the text and text structure-based questions that target 9 key learning standards for reading informational text:

· Ask and answer questions

· Read and comprehend

· Main topic

· Text features

· Images & diagrams

· Text purpose

· Word meanings

· Context clues

· Cause & effect

The questions are identical for each reading level allowing you to use a specific passage whole group and discuss the questions all together, even if some students are using a different level. The passages and readers are ideal to use in guided reading groups and as intervention materials.
