Description
This inquiry-based project encourages students to ask questions and then research different habitats around the world (i.e. desert, ocean, forest etc.). They will identify a problem (caused by natural or human means) and then inform others about their research using an informational poster. It includes a teacher directive, student planning sheet, a rubric for evaluation (based on the Ontario achievement chart) as well as student examples.
This project meets curriculum expectations from the 2022 Ontario Grade 4 Science curriculum (Habitats and Communities) as well as the 2023 Ontario Grade 4 Language curriculum and expectations are outlined. It is meant as a culminating activity.
The student examples pictured are mixed media, but more recently my students have been enjoying doing this project on Canva (a free online design and publishing tool that is fully compatible with Google Classroom). This more "digital" option works great with this project too!
