This Honesty Character Education unit has everything you need to teacher the character trait of honesty to your class! This Honesty Unit includes 4 details lessons plans including hands-on activities, group activities, and reflection activities! Build a strong classroom community where your students value honesty!

The lessons and activities work great for morning meetings or as daily lessons.

What's Included?

Lesson 1: Being Honest

Being honest means being truthful in what you say. Students discuss how only telling part of what happened is dishonest. Students will also compare honesty and dishonesty.

Lesson 2: Your Actions Matter

Being honest means being truthful in what you do! A big part of honest is how you treat others. Cheating and stealing are considered dishonest actions that we can take. If we want strong relationships we need to be honest so that others can trust us.

Lesson 3: Building Trust

When people know that you are honest, they can trust you. Friendships are built on trust. Being trustworthy means you do the right thing even when no one is looking. You keep your promises.

Lesson 4: Be Honest with Yourself

You will be happiest with yourself when you are honest with yourself and with others. It's okay to like different things that your friends. Going along with your friends even though you don't want to is being dishonest with yourself.

Each lesson has:

  • Parent Letter: Inform parents on the trait and how to support their child at home.
  • Weekly Overviews: Two page summary of what's included in each week to make planning for the week a breeze.
  • Scenario Cards Sort: Students read the scenario cards and sort into honest or dishonest categories
  • Draw About It: Students reflect on the prompt and draw their response
  • Write About It: Students reflect on a prompt and write their response
  • Act It Out: Students will work in a small group to act out honest or dishonest scenarios.
  • Classroom Banner: String up a class banner celebrating each child's uniqueness.
  • Honesty Pledge: Students take an honesty pledge once the unit is complete.
