Description
Practice finding the height of an unknown tall object using proportional reasoning! I use this lab as an introduction and/or extension into proportional reasoning, scale factors and similar triangles with my grade 9 class. However, this lab can be used and adapted to any grade level from 8-12's. In this lab, students go outside and find the length of the shadow of a meter stick to measure the height of an unknown tall object. I've included an answer key as well, so no prep required! Feel free to email me at buildingacommunityofmathematicians@hotmail.com for any further questions about the use of the product.
