Organised by the four subjects, Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, Geography and History, the Achievement Standards for each year level have been matched to their connected Content Descriptors. This is important because in some cases up to eight content descriptors are linked to a single Achievement Standard sentence. This document also shows which Content Descriptors are essential, and which are optional.

Why this document exists

It is essential that teachers know the link between what to teach (Content Descriptors) and what students are expected to learn (Achievement Standards). While the online curriculum does make these links, it does require clicking and scrolling. This document clearly shows the link between each sentence in the Achievement Standards and the relevant Content Descriptors.

Version 9.0 of the Australian Curriculum has a much clearer link (than V8.4) between Content Descriptors and the Achievement Standard.
