Gunpowder Empires "Learning Through Lyrics" Lesson

Learning Through Lyrics™ is an innovative, exciting, and effective Common Core Aligned lesson/activity/strategy, through which you teach your students about the Ottoman, Mughal, and Safavid Empires by allowing them to create their own original song that highlights the important facts and ideas of the topic. Students work in collaborative groups to brainstorm, organize, and write a fun and creative song that not only aids in retaining the information, but also helps in the development of vocabulary, language, critical thinking, creative writing, research, interpersonal, and public speaking skills (all of which are important benchmarks of the Common Core).
