What educators are saying

Excellent resource! Eve breaks down Growth Mindset in an interactive, fun way that promotes student understanding. My students take an SEL Panorama survey in the fall and spring. They grew by a whopping 7 points in this area.
I've used this resource with my daughter along with some videos for each lesson. She loves it and begs me to do it before we start our core subjects. Thanks for the great resource!

    Growth Mindset Review

    Description

Do you have students who have a difficult time doing anything that is a little challenging for them? Do they quit right away? Do they think they are "dumb" if they make mistakes? Do they think if something is challenging, it means they aren't smart? This interactive PowerPoint bundle is specifically for these kids. It's designed to get kids to go from a fixed mindset (I'm just not good at math/reading) to a growth mindset (I can become better at math/reading.) Works great on Smartboards too!

This bundle combines my intro to growth mindset and my expansion pack. If you have already purchased these products, there is no need to purchase this bundle as it contains no new lessons.

This includes an introduction to growth mindset and 8 additional PowerPoints that explore growth mindset in more depth by breaking apart key components and teaching them through fun, interactive PowerPoints. Each lesson gives students a little more insight into what having a growth mindset really means!

The bundle includes the following PowerPoints:

    • Introduction to Growth Mindset- This introduction teaches students that they have to do challenging things to keep their brain interested and growing, gives examples of things that prevent your brain from growing, and includes fun activities to show them that doing hard tasks can be fun!

    • How The Brain Learns- Explains brain elasticity, how we learn new information, and the difference between fixed and growth mindsets

    • Failure and Mistakes- Focuses on the importance of being willing to fail and make mistakes in order to grow

    • Perseverance- Includes tips on how to persevere when things get difficult

    • Effort vs. Natural Talent- Explains the value of effort in success

    • Taking Challenges- Students learn the joy of challenging themselves

    • Accepting Feedback- Students learn the importance of accepting and learning from feedback in order to grow

    • Comparing Success- Students are taught that the success of others doesn't lessen their success

Growth Mindsetters & Review-- Examples of successful people who had growth mindsets and review of previous lessons

I recommend starting with the introduction to Growth Mindset and then introducing one new lesson each month (one for each month of the school year). This way students can really develop a growth mindset throughout the year, and the material stays fresh in their minds. The lessons are meant to be given in the order listed and will make the most sense this way.

Although each PowerPoint has a different focus, there are many overlapping concepts presented in new ways to get students to take a fresh look and better ingrain a growth mindset into their daily lives.

    Thanks,

    Eve Coates
