Students choose a book or movie they love and trace the hero's journey throughout. Students also present their findings in a written report and multi-media presentation. This is an authentic assessment of student understanding of the heroic journey and its archetypes.
Included are two parts to this project. You can choose to have students do both or give them the notes to help them only do one.
- Part 1 is a written outline/description of how students see the Heroic Journey in a book, movie, or television show.
- Part 2 is to turn this into a poster or multi-media piece. In the past, I have had students create posters, mobiles, videos, a series of Instagram Posts, Prezi’s, Adobe Spark Videos.
What's Included:
1. Heroic Journey Project Assignment
2. Heroic Journey Notes example
3. Heroic Journey Notes Template
4. Heroic Journey Guided Questions
5. Heroic Journey Poster examples
6. Ways to assess when you haven’t read the books or seen the movies/tv shows.
Pandora's Box Myth and Project
Students read the myth of Pandora and discuss it before moving to the Creation Your Own Pandora's Box Activity. Students will fold their own origami box (instructions included) and then using the moth and butterfly graphics and planning sheet provided, students decide on what they think the evils / plagues of our modern world would go into Pandora's box today. Then they decide what hope we still have with us.
Write Your Own Creation Myth
