Group Students - Heterogeneous Grouping Cards

Quick, easy way to randomly group your students over and over again. Great for transitions and classroom management. This tool could be used during teacher training for teachers and staff as well.

I have used this to group and re-group students quickly within a single lesson, once within a subject area (say for a lead-off activity like think-pair-share on a question/prompt that I do at the start of every science and math lesson), or just as a way for heterogeneous groups for fun games, sports, and activities.

This document contains 36 cards, so it will scale up to 36 students. Each student is given one card and then the teacher (or another student) can call out how to group - 1) by shape, 2) by color, 3) by number, or 4) by letter.

There are two sets included in this document, one set of small cards and another for larger cards depending on preference.

(Note: I laminated the cards to use over and over again, year after year.)
