What educators are saying
Description
"The Grouchy Ladybug" by Eric Carle is by far one of the MOST FUN books to use when introducing or reviewing time in your classroom! The kids LOVE when I put on my grouchy voice and my grouchy face and read this story out loud!
If you like to use this story as a basis for your telling time curriculum, then you'll love the five activities included with this set. For a better look, just click on PREVIEW!
Grouchy Ladybug Craftivity and Writing Project:
All the materials and templates are provided to make an adorable little ladybug clock which can be used actively in the classroom or as part of a fun bulletin board display. After making the clocks, simply have your students complete the writing prompt, "At _____, I was grouchy because _____." Hang them together on the bulletin board for everyone to enjoy!
Grouchy Ladybug BINGO:
For this game, you'll find 10 "On the Hour" BINGO cards and 10 BINGO cards with both "On the Hour" and "Half-past" clocks (depending on what your class is learning). Students can color the clocks with black crayons as you call out each time.
Grouchy Ladybug Write The Room:
Again for this game you can use only "On the Hour" clock cards or both "On the Hour" and "Half-past" clock cards. Simply place cards around the room and students can work independently or in pairs to find them and record the times that they see.
Grouchy Ladybug Class Book:
I love, love, LOVE this little class book! For each page, students will record the time on the clock and then finish the sentence with their name and the name of an animal. They will then illustrate a picture of the grouchy encounter they have with it! Bind the pages together in order and place in your classroom library! You'll find both "On the Hour" pages and "Half-past" pages... use the pages that are appropriate for your own class!
Grouchy Ladybug Re-Telling Cards or Matching Center:
These cards fit nicely into a pocket chart and can be used during reading, to re-tell and review the story or an an independent literacy center. You'll find cards featuring all the times found in the story, as well as all the animals that the ladybug met along the way.
