What educators are saying

We use these activities for our Grinch day which was right before Christmas break. The students loved the break from our everyday learning and enjoy these activities.

Description

Have the best Grinchmas Day ever! This pack includes Grinch BINGO, a Grinch-Hot Chocolate Craft, Grinch compliment hearts, and pin the heart on the Grinch (hearts only). Check the descriptions below for bonus variations and ideas.

Grinch Compliment Hearts (In Black&White and Red: 2 pages each):

Directions: Distribute one compliment heart per student. Assign each student a student in the class. Have students write a compliment about their student and give it to them.

Variation 1: Assign students their partner in the morning, and tell them to look out

for something great they do during the school day. Students give their compliments

out at the end of the day during closing circle/meeting

Variation 2: Assign students their partner as they walk into the classroom. Students

share out their compliments and give their compliments during morning meeting in

place of a greeting.

Pin the Heart on the Grinch (In Black&White and Red: 2 pages each):

Directions: Draw a life-size grinch ("I Can't Draw," Pro-Tip: Tape your preferred Grinch paper to wall, project a picture of the Grinch on top of paper, then trace!). Distribute grinch hearts with piece of rolled tape on back. Blind fold students, then have them attempt to pin the heart on the Grinch! Students can write their names on hearts so you can determine who was closest.

Grinch-Chocolate (6 pages)

Directions: Each student will cut out one mug, one hot chocolate, and 3-4 marshmallows. Hot chocolate is glued on top of mug. Color mugs and hot chocolate BEFORE adding marshmallows! Hot chocolate mugs can be glued on top of a piece of construction paper.

Variation 1: Using sturdier card stock or manilla folders, turn mug and hot

chocolate pieces into tracers. Students can trace on top of colored construction

paper for a sturdier more keepsake hot chocolate mug.

Variation 2: Skip cutting out the paper marshmallows and use cotton balls instead!

You'll need tacky glue (liquid elmers would probably work too) to help the cotton

balls stick.

Extension: Make green grinch-chocolate! Combine powered white hot chocolate

mix, green candy melts, and a drop or 2 of green food dye (optional). Make in a

crock pot before school day for easy assembly and low stress!

Grinch Bingo: 27 pages:

Includes 25 different BINGO cards and one set of calling cards.
