Description

Working on Greek and Latin roots with your students? This Boom Deck works on a total of 20 roots with various activities. There is a menu page that organizes all the different activities. Ten common Greek and Latin roots (20 total) are defined and example words are provided. Then there are four different activities for working on Greek and Latin roots.

What's included?

  • Card 1: Menu page
  • Card 2: Quick explanation of root words
  • Card 3- 4: 10 common Latin roots and 4 example words for each root
  • Card 5 – 6: 10 common Greek roots and 4 example words for each root
  • Card 7 – 16: Build a Latin root tree. 6 words and students need to drag and drop 3-5 words that have the same root. Some slides are 3, 4, or 5 words with the given root.
  • Card 17 – 26: Build a Greek root tree. 6 words and students need to drag and drop 3-5 words that have the same root.
  • Card 27 – 36: Choose the correct meaning of the Latin root when given 4 choices.
  • Card 37 – 46: Choose the correct meaning of the Greek root when given 4 choices.
  • Card 47 – 56: Written responses – write the Latin root in a given word as well as the meaning of the word.
  • Card 57 – 66: Written responses – write the Greek root in a given word as well as the meaning of the word. These fill in the blanks are set up to to self grade the responses.
  • Card 67 - 78: Multiple choice to determine if the word with a Latin root has a prefix, suffix, both, or none
  • Card 79 -86: Multiple choice to determine if the word with a Greek root has a prefix, suffix, another root, or both a prefix and suffix
