Description

Need an activity to help students make connections between real world quadratics, features of parabolas, and parts of the equation? Try this activity!

Here's what is included:

  • A handout to guide a discussion. This sheet shows how parts of a quadratic equation in standard form relate to objects that are thrown in the air. It can be discussed as a whole class or in small groups.
  • 12 cards are provided, which students match up (equation + story + graph).
  • Student recording sheet
  • Answer key

You could use this as a group activity or as a math center.

The activity is one of my eight quadratic centers, which you can find here.
