Description

Correcting Grammar Errors in Emails is a fun, practical, and relevant way to get middle or high school ELA students to practice and develop their grammar skills. With the Grammar Email Fail activity, students will find and correct common grammatical errors while providing explanations for why each grammar mistake is wrong. The activity includes 40 print-ready assignments with emails that each contain five grammar errors that students must identify and correct before explaining the reason it is wrong in the provided spaces. A task card option is also included with answer keys in print and presentation format for easy review.

Included in this Correcting Grammar Errors in Emails activity:

➡️ 40 Correcting Grammar Errors in Emails Assignments: Use these weekly assignments to have students practice locating and correcting common grammar errors in a high-interest and modern email format. The topics of the emails are engaging, and each includes 5 errors that students must correct. Printable answer keys for each are also provided

➡️ Correcting Grammar Errors in Emails Student Task Card Format: A task card format option is also provided with just the email without the space for students to correct the 5 errors. Use this option in a stations activity where students can move around the room to read multiple emails and record their work in a notebook.

➡️ Correcting Grammar Errors in Emails Answer Key Review Presentation: Use this animated PowerPoint presentation to review the answers for each of the weekly email grammar assignments with students. The slideshow in presentation mode reveals each of the errors one at a time with a detailed explanation for easy class review!

How to use this Grammar Email Fail Activity resource:

  1. Bell-Ringer: Introduce one of the grammar fail assignments to your class per week for 40 weeks as bell-ringers. Everyone finds the errors on their own (or you can do it in groups or pairs). Then, you can use the PowerPoint to review it together as a class.
  2. Writing/Reading Centers: Include the task cards at a center where students can choose which ones to work on. The work can be completed in a notebook.
  3. Pair Work: Give each pair of students an email assignment and have them complete it together. Then, each pair can present the email to the class and share what errors they found.
  4. Group Work: Give a group of three or four students one of the email assignments and have them come to an agreement about the errors found. The group can present the email to the class when they are finished and explain each of the errors.
