Grade 7&8 Science Unit Bundle (STRAND 4 - Understanding Earth and Space Systems)

In this bundle, I have added the Grade 7 Heat Unit and Grade 8 Water Systems Units.

These lessons were made as a resource for my students "learning from home". Each lesson is was created with Ontario Science and Technology curriculum in mind.

Bundle Overview:

Grade 7 - Heat Unit

This product was designed for Grade 7 students to "Learn-at-Home". There are six interactive lessons that allow students to engage in the topic, explore key scientific concepts, explain their thinking based on information learned, and extend their knowledge base. Students can work at their own pace throughout each lesson.

These lessons are aligned with the Ontario Science and Technology Curriculum. Once you have purchased this product, you will have access to each of the six lessons.

Lesson Overview:

Lesson 1 - Energy Transformation

Heat is a form of energy.  This energy can be changed from one form to another.  Let’s learn all about it in this lesson!

Lesson 2 - Heat Production

We use a variety of heat sources on a daily basis.  Let’s examine these sources and their impact on the environment!

Lesson 3 - Heat Transfers and Loss

When heat transfer occurs, the energy is carried through or across from one solid, liquid or gas to another. 

Lesson 4 - Heat Affects the Air Around Us

Weather and climate are largely affected by convection currents and radiant energy.  Let’s examine how these types of energy affect the air around us on a daily basis.

Lesson 5 - Heat Affects Land

The Earth is made of several layers.  These layers were formed as a result of heat.  In this lesson, let’s examine how heat causes changes our the Earth.

Lesson 6 - Human Activities produce Heat

Heat is often released into the environments when energy is transformed.  Let’s examine how heat pollution of land, water, and the atmosphere affect our world!

Large bodies of water can impact the weather and climate of various locations around the world.

Lesson 4 - Natural and Human Factors Affecting Water Supply

Natural occurrences such as flooding, droughts, and earthquakes can change the water table.  We also can cause changes to these levels. Let’s examine these factors!

Lesson 5 - Water Treatment

Water that is removed from our water systems must be treated and tested before it is safe to drink.  Let’s explore this process!

Lesson 6 - Water Sustainability

Taking action today to protect our water systems is something we should all care about.  We can do this by becoming environmental stewards!
