Description

Ontario's new language curriculum was introduced in June 2023. This is the first workbook, in a series of ten, which covers the key concepts in grammar and literature in the new grade 6 curriculum.

I designed it as a compliment to what we already teach! Each day, students complete a minds on activity that is engaging AND covers the new curriculum expectations. And I do it in a cross-curricular fashion.

September's themes are:

1) Inclusion

2) Ecology and ecosystems (habitat loss)

3) Indigenous traditions and voices

4) Bullying

The curriculum expectations I work on are:

Poetry: imagery and personification (C3.1)

Analyzing texts for purpose (C3.3)

Indigenous Ways Of Knowing (A3.3)

Appropriate word choice (B1.5)

B3.2- Using gerunds

Each workbook in this series will re-enforce the curriculum expectations in literacy with an indirect focus on indigenous traditional ecological knowledge and social studies/science.

Stay tuned and follow along for the complete year!
