Google Drawings Simple Mosaic Digital Art Lesson - Middle / High School Art

This is the perfect beginner digital art lesson to use without buying any computer software. Students will create a unique computer generated digital mosaic using Google Drawings (free with gmail account). The students will learn and apply basic tools and techniques available in Google Drawing (computer drawing program) as well as recall information about Greco-Roman mosaics. Students will use shape, color theory, and a reference photo of their choice to create a unique digital mosaic. PowerPoint slides and/or PDF slides includes art standards (infer meaning of exemplary visual images through close reading and visual thinking strategies in order to reflect on multiple interpretations of art works), art vocabulary (unity, color scheme and mosaic), lesson objectives, rubric expectations & printable rubric, materials needed, step-by-step instructions, Art History resources and discussion questions, student examples and a YouTube video art tutorial. This is a perfect lesson for distance learners too!
