Description

This Drag and Drop Activity: Ordering Solving Steps for Two Step Algebraic Equations comes with 20 two step equations. Students will practice solving two step equations with integers. On each slide there will be two similar equations where students have to choose the correct two steps to take in order to correctly solve each one. Some of the equations will have the same solution and use the same steps. For a challenge, extra steps are provided but will not be used. This is a no prep digital learning assignment with answer key included for the teacher, which makes for easy grading for the teacher. Or use the printable blank PDF version for students to show their work on paper. Great for differentiation in the classroom!

Students will Practice the following Skills:

  • Integer operations
  • Inverse operations
  • Multiplicative inverse
  • Property of equality
  • Working backwards
  • Substitution
  • Explaining steps
  • Distributive property

What’s included:

  • Google™ Slides- digital assignment
  • Printable PDF- Blank Workspace for In-person Work

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
Solve word problems leading to equations of the form 𝘱𝘹 + 𝘲 = 𝘳 and 𝘱(𝘹 + 𝘲) = 𝘳, where 𝘱, 𝘲, and 𝘳 are specific rational numbers. Solve equations of these forms fluently. Compare an algebraic solution to an arithmetic solution, identifying the sequence of the operations used in each approach. For example, the perimeter of a rectangle is 54 cm. Its length is 6 cm. What is its width?
Solve linear equations in one variable.
Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms.
Create equations and inequalities in one variable and use them to solve problems.
