Hold students accountable with goal setting!

There are over 65 reading and writing strategies and skills with kid-friendly "I Can.." statements that can be used in kindergarten, first, and even second grade. All you have to do is print on post-it notes and use. You can also print, cut and store them to use for goal setting, conferences, and small groups. Hold students accountable for their learning as early as kindergarten! Stick them on students' books, writings, graphic organizers, or folders as a reminder to work on the strategy or skill. I personally use mine for goal setting and data tracking.

How I use them:

I cut my post-its out on regular paper and use post-it glue. In my class, students have a goal setting tracker kept in the clear slit of their folders (separately sold). When they achieve their goal, the sticky note is taken off and placed on the class's achievement board. Once mastered, I also check it off on the checklist (separately sold) to keep track of data. Other teachers place them in books while students are reading to remind them of the strategy they are working on. I store my sticky notes in plastic sheet covers in a binder. I carry the binder around for easy access during conferences and small groups.

These are primarily made for kindergarten and first grade, however, many of the reading strategies and skills are universal.
