What educators are saying

I used this at the beginning of the year to help my students set goals for themselves. They really loved it.
Great resource! I was able to incorporate it into my Goal Setting and Growth Mindset Unit in my Leadership Skills Development class.

    Description

This Goal Setting bundle contains four items:

    1. Draw Your Future! Vision Board Template with Guided Questions
    2. Secondary SMART Goals: Set, Track, Reflect
    3. Backwards Planning Lesson & Handouts
    4. Sample pacing guide for traditional & block schedule

These products work beautifully together! You get three products for the price of two, as well as a simple pacing guide to help you put it all together.

Vision board: Start by getting students excited to set goals with the vision board activities. Students will:

    • Watch a TED talk video called "Draw Your Future", which is about the power of picturing your goals,
    • Answer guided questions for the TED talk, and
    • Put the concepts in the TED talk into practice by creating a vision board

SMART goals: From there, use the SMART goal materials to teach the process of creating a SMART goal. This includes:

    • A lesson using a PowerPoint and guided practice to teach students how to write an academic SMART goal.
    • Templates for students to write their goals, reflect on them, and graph their progress at the end of each week
    • An end-of-quarter reflection with rubric

Backwards Planning: If this is an AVID class (or something like it) and you have more time to dedicate to this process, incorporate the backwards planning lesson & handout during the first week. This includes:

    • A powerpoint with guided notes & guided practice that teaches the concepts of a backwards plan
    • A template for students to create a backwards plan that align with their overall SMART goal

Pacing guide: A sample pacing guide is also included to help you envision how this can all be put together. As described above, introducing these materials will take one week, but you could use up to two weeks, depending on how much in-class time you want to dedicate.
