Gingerbread Cookie Survival Kit: Reading and Writing Activities for the Holidays

This Gingerbread Boy Holiday unit has Lesson Plans and Activities that put a new twist on your Christmas Holiday Reading and Writing Plans.

The unit centers around Reading inferences, sequence, compare/contrast and alliteration activities. Students can complete lessons and activities from 3 popular Gingerbread stories: The Gingerbread Boy, The Gingerbread Baby, and the The Gingerbread Girl.

After reading and completing activities, writing lessons include creating a Gingerbread Cookie Survival Catalog with items that a Gingerbread Boy or Girl could purchase to survive the Holidays. Students create a catalog title and jingle as well as 5 items a Gingerbread Cookie could use to evade a baker. Suggestions for presentations are also included as well as grading rubrics.
