What are my recommendations for use in your classroom?

PRINTABLE VERSION

◾ I recommend using this in the first couple of days of school - or, if you are a teacher who teaches semester classes, then in the first day or two of the new semester with your new group of students.

◾ This resource is all black-and-white, so try printing it on colored paper or allow students to sign their names in crayons, colored pencils, or marker to make it a little more fun!

◾ Participate in the BINGO activity yourself! It's a great opportunity for you to learn more about your students and for them to learn about you - right off the bat!

◾ Although this has been aligned to Speaking and Listening standards from the Common Core, I don't recommend taking this for a grade or tying some kind of academic purpose to it. It should be utilized as a fun, low-key icebreaker activity that will help you build community in your classroom.

FILLABLE PDF VERSION

◾ The activity includes fillable text boxes for students to type in their answers. Please note that this version allows you, the teacher, to edit the statements on the BINGO sheet to best fit your student population. However, this also means that students could delete those statements and replace them with other text, so you'll need to set expectations around this before getting started with the activity.

◾ There are also fillable text boxes for students' names and the date. You can fill in the name text box for each student before sending out the test, if you like, but that will add more work in individually assigning each personalized copy of the PDF to each student.

◾ Assign the test to students via email, Google Classroom, or whatever Learning Management System (LMS) your school/district uses.
