German Modal Verbs Unit

Presentations about each of the 7 German modal verbs, with scaffolded discussion activities.

Instructions/Pacing:

Day 1: Start with the presentation about möchten & müssen. Have students discuss by standing up and moving to one side of the room or the other based on which activity they would like to do or have to do. Alternatively, have them just discuss with a partner or a group. Then explain modal verbs using Slide 11 and have students write down the conjugation in their notes.

Day 2: Students review and annotate notes from Day 1 and finish the slides (if needed). Provide a small exit ticket/quick quiz, letting students use notes. Start the next presentation (mögen). Again, students discuss what they like and don't like, then take notes on conjugation, do the activity, and formative assessment.
