This oil pastel art lesson inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe is perfect for middle school art students and can be taught during the month of March for Women's History Month. Students will be able to use oil pastels to create implied textures and value changes while using observational drawing skills to create an extreme close-up drawing from a reference. The student will also learn and discuss the life and artwork of artist Georgia O'Keeffe. PowerPoint slides and/or PDF slides can be shown to your students in class or remotely. The slides include standards (combine creative and technical knowledge to produce visually strong works of art. (VA.68.O.1.3), day by day goals, objectives, vocabulary (pattern and emphasis), project guidelines, student examples, and a YouTube video art tutorial. The lesson offers the opportunity for students to learn about female artists during Women's History Month (March) or any time of the year! The variety is stunning and makes a beautiful display!
