What educators are saying

This has been so great to fill in the gaps for students while they do their 20 time/genius hour projects. It has created a much more engaging and full work period compared to my first attempt last year.
I love that this product gave students different choices of how to present their genius hour project. Many great pages/slide links were included.

Description

Genius hour lets students follow their passions and aligns easily with ELA.

In this extensive hyperdoc unit, you'll find everything you need beautifully laid out.

Students will choose a passion to pursue, then use one of four platforms to DOCUMENT their journey, TEACH others how to follow in their footsteps, or SHOWCASE a product they've created through their project as part of their own small business.

Here's what's inside:

  • A link to a kickoff video to get students excited about the possibilities
  • A bright set of mini-posters for your door or bulletin board to reinforce the growth mindset necessary for a genius hour project
  • Organizational materials, including a project checklist, mastery rubric, project proposal sheet, and clear required components
  • A guiding hyperdoc in Google slides, with separate routes for students based on whether they choose podcasting, blogging, Instagram, or vlogging.
  • Each of the four platforms has its own resource sheet, models, and final product templates in slides to make it easy for you to comply with your school's privacy rules.

The entire project on any platform can be completed within Slides, and then, with parent/guardian and school permission, you can always guide students to move their work onto viable online platforms.

You could do this project over the course of a month in class, or spread it out across an entire term or even year.

Check out the preview video for a comprehensive overview of what's inside.

From the Reviews:

"I LOOOOOOOVE THIS!!!"

"I love Genius Hour! I have done it in the past, but I needed a perfect way to organize the activity and this was it!"

"Charming resource. My students loved this and thought it was stunning and fun."

"Betsy included EVERYTHING you need to get started on a Genius Hour project. I had always wanted try something like this, but it just seemed too overwhelming. This resource made the project manageable, and students LOVED that they had the freedom to choose what to study and how to share what they learned. I also really appreciated that the documents were editable. That way I could tweak the language to fit the language I've been using in my classroom all year. There are SO MANY useful materials in this resource. If you are on the fence about purchasing it, do it. You won't regret it."

When you open the hyperdoc, you'll see the project's introductory pages and organizational materials. Then when you and your students click the links to visit the handouts for each platform option, you'll see all the rest! It's a hyperdoc unit, so don't be fooled and think it's only the introductory pages.
