Description

STEM UP your classroom with this STEM challenge/STEAM challenge resource pack you can use with any STEM challenge/STEAM challenge you design. Help your budding engineers develop perseverance and problem solving skills by participating in the engineering design process using various craft supplies and/or materials such as recycled items collected around the house. Build a community of critical thinkers within your classroom and help foster teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills as students work together to solve a STEM challenge/STEAM challenge. This resource pack does not include a STEM challenge. It contains the resources you can use with any engineering design task you create.

Includes (versions in color and black and white):

- Inquiry Questions

- Suggested Supply List

- NGSS and Common Core Standards

- Student Journal with planning pages

- Student/Team Reflection pages

- Engineering Design Process Rubric

- Engineering Design Process Poster

Included is a list of possible supplies you and your students can collect for completing STEM challenges/STEAM challenges. Basically anything you would recycle can be used including items from the school cafeteria such as containers from cereal, yogurt, or fruit cups. The sky is the limit! I highly suggest having some bins of collected supplies or a storage area for supplies to have on hand for STEM challenges/STEAM challenges throughout the year if you don’t have a Makerspace available in your classroom or school. Please do not feel that you need to have everything on the list in order to complete the STEM challenge/STEAM challenge. Students will use whatever supplies they have available to them. You may even choose to only allow a specific set of supplies as an added constraint for the challenge.
