This Gelli printmaking art lesson is perfect for high school, middle school art students or intermediate elementary students. Students will learn how to create a Gelli plate print (monoprint) and a foam relief print and combine the 2 printmaking processes together for one stunning work of art. Students will be able to identify characteristics of Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints) and the artwork of Katsushika Hokusai.
The PowerPoint slides and/or PDF slides to show your students in class. The slides include standards (explore various subject matter, themes, and cultural events to develop art work that communicates artistic intent), objectives, vocabulary (brayer, print, printing, relief print, monoprint ), step by step directions with photos, rubric expectations, student examples, a closer look at the artwork of Hokusai and a critique of his work, reflection questions and two YouTube art tutorial to preview and demonstrate techniques. A perfect introductory printmaking lesson!
