What educators are saying

My students enjoyed this activity. Relationship tables are difficult to bring to real-world life, but this was fun!

Description

This is a great activity to introduce “What’s my rule?” problems, and begin algebraic thinking. The activities will work with students of all ages. I have included pre-made worksheets as well as sheets that are designed for you to add the numbers & rules. Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, negative numbers….you can decide!!

Before you can begin the activities, you have to make your FUNCTION MACHINE. I have included a variety of print-outs. Any old box will work! So…print, cut, paste, and your function machine is ready to go. You will also want to cut out a few of the monsters to make a monster hat.

The function machine operator must be a monster!!! So…put on your monster hat and start growling! The kiddos will get a kick out of it!

Inside this 36 page bundle you will find:
-Plans/Directions
-Function Machine Templates
-Function Machine Pictures/Directions
-Five frames and arrows worksheets that require students to determine the function and complete the number pattern. One is designed for you to add your own numbers.
-Five input/output worksheets. One is designed for you to add your own numbers.
