Description

Get your students thinking poetically, lyrically and creatively with this great limerick lesson and activity. This limerick lesson is great to use as a part of any poetry unit, or as a stand alone, and fun, poetry lesson. Additionally, it's excellent to have on hand to give a little literacy boost for St. Patrick’s Day. This lesson plan allows students' minds a break, while still giving them practice with some of core literacy standards!

This lesson includes the following:

*An EDITABLE PowerPoint introduction about limericks, WITH guiding lecture notes!


*A PDF of the PowerPoint, to preserve any font or formatting issues


*An EDITABLE student handout that gives them the layout of a limerick, with the rubric so that they can begin writing their own fun and creative nonsense poem!


*Instructions for a class contest to get students competitive with their limericks
