What educators are saying

My students loved trying to decide what songs to choose for their soundtrack. Lots of great resources here for the end of the school year.
My students loved writing the letters. They gave interesting advice, and I learned a lot about what they liked from the class.

    Description

Perfect for the last day of school or the last week of school, this EDITABLE, NO PREP, GOOGLE SLIDES activity bundle is a fun way to celebrate the end of the year with your middle school or high school students and to help them reflect on their learning, growth, and progress during the year. This end of the year activity bundle includes several fun, engaging, creative reflection activities, including a collaborative survival guide to high school activity, a playlist project, a letter to next year's students, a letter to my future self reflection writing activity, a one pager project, a course survey for student feedback ...and more!!

This activity is designed to work for DIGITAL (distance learning) or PRINTABLE (in-person learning) formats.

Teaching seniors? You might like this version for seniors instead!

What is included in this resource?

Teacher Guide: Directions for teachers facilitating this activity

Student-Friendly Directions: Step-by-Step directions to guide students through the activity. The directions are formatted to be printable as well as digital.

End of Year Survival Guide Activity: Students collaborate with peers to reflect on the important life lessons they've learned this year and use this reflection to create a "survival guide" for incoming students.

End of Year Playlist Project: Students choose 10 songs that encapsulate their year and explain and illustrate each song choice. Students choose songs for specific categories such as love life, friendships, family, etc.

End of the Year Course Survey: Students answer 10 open-ended questions that encourage them to reflect on the activities they found most and least helpful, their growth in reading and writing, memorable moments from the class, and more! The questions are designed to focus student feedback on the course (not the teacher) and to generate meaningful feedback you can put into action for next year's students.

Letter to Next Year's Students: Students write a letter to next year's students to provide them with advice and "insider tips" based on all they've learned this year.

Letter to My Future Self: Student write a letter to themselves 5 years from now to remind them of who they were at this time in their life and to give their future self advice, warnings, and encouragement.

Letters of Gratitude Reflection: Students choose 4 people who have had a positive impact on their life or who have supported them this year. Students write letters thanking each person for the support and guidance along the way.

End of the Year One Pager: Students create a visual reflection of the year. The activity includes a template and 6 open-ended prompts to guide student reflections on growth, challenges, goals, and more.

End of the Year List Poem Activity: Student create a list poem by reflecting on the lessons they've learned throughout their senior year and high school career. A mini "What is a List Poem" lesson is included. A note to non-ELA teachers: this activity is NOT just for ELA - list poems are perfect for any subject area because they're so simple and accessible. If you're feeling unsure about list poetry in a non-ela setting, check out this collection of "math poems" collected by Sarah Glaz.

Last Day/After the Final Reflection: Students answer these 3 open-ended questions for one last discussion and a meaningful closing activity. This activity is flexible in time, making it great for the last day of school when you're not sure how long students will need for their final exam or project.

Scaffolds and Templates: Each activity includes templates and scaffolds to support all learners.

Rubrics: Each activity includes a rubric to help students create quality projects that meet the assignment goals.

Designed for Digital / Distance Learning AND Print: A link to a separate file with JUST the slides your digital students need for the activity.

    Activity Duration:

The duration of each activity varies, but most activities take 2-4 hours, depending on how teachers choose to conduct each activity or project.

Check out the (FREE) choice board in the bundle to see how you can give your students a choice from the activities included in this bundle.
