Full Year Technology Kindergarten (First or Second Grade) Curriculum 40+ Lessons

This is a full year of TECHNOLOGY LESSONS for younger students. I wrote this for Kindergarten, but you could use these lessons with students a little older too, including Grade One and Grade 2, maybe even 3.

Each lesson has a written plan, a presentation and activities to complete. Some contain tutorial videos and worksheets too.

Everything is FULLY EDITABLE!

Our school uses iPads and SeeSaw so these are included as key units. You could adapt these if your school doesn't use these great resources.

Unit 1 - iPads

Students learn.

• Links. What are they? How can we use them on the blog to spark conversation?

Unit 4 - Digital Citizenship

Students learn about the 4 helpful digital habits

• What to do if they make a mistake

• Creating a superhero and their logo
• Drawing emotions and art that evokes a specific emotional response.
• Creating art collaboratively
• Taking a photo and editing it using paint software.
• Adding text to an image
• Creating animations by designing and combining a series of images

Unit 6 - Computational Thinking (thinking like a computer)

• An introduction to computational thinking and DECODING
• Problem Solving
• An introduction to Algorithms
• LEGO DUPLO Algorithms
• BeeBot Algorithms

Unit 7 - Coding with Scratch Jr coding blocks

Students explore

• What is coding? This builds on from the computer thinking skills unit
• Scratch Jr - An Introduction - Students learn how to add backgrounds and Sprites to a first program.
• Scratch Jr - Face Filters
• Scratch Jr - Speech and movement. Students learn how to code their Sprites to talk and move.
• Scratch Jr - Students learn how to record audio and integrate it into their code.
• Scratch Jr - Students learn how to add additional scenes and create a cartoon that occurs in different locations.
