From Brown Tree Branches - A Visualizing Activity

Using visualizing is a great and engaging way to help students add to their reader’s toolbox of strategies. Students enjoy “making a movie” in their heads as they learn to picture what is read aloud or as they read.

You can use this poem in three ways: whole group, small group, or independently. You can read it aloud or have the student read independently.

There are two versions of the graphic organizer included: one with the poem written to encourage independent or partner reading, and one without, to encourage listening as images are made.
