• RubricThis is a detailed unit outline on Frida Kahlo, symbolism, and self-portraiture, with a coordinating PowerPoint presentation. I use it for eighth grade--I would recommend it be used for upper middle school and high school levels.

The unit is a Word document, and it includes the unit concepts, objectives, outlines for lessons that lead to a final symbolic self-portrait project. A finished example is included in the file.

This unit also includes a prompt for a discussion on artists' diaries and personal property with a written response form that I use as homework. It coordinates with an article for Scholastic Arts subscribers, but if you don't have access to that article, other ones can be supplemented, as the prompt is an opinion prompt.
