What educators are saying

This was a great resource to challenge my students with vocabulary and translation. My students enjoyed this so much!
Love the resource. It definitely made planning a lot easier and was simple to adapt to my class' needs.

Description

Want a really fun activity for the first day of French class? These French icebreakers and back to school activities are a fun way to get to know your students during la rentrée! They are perfect for the first day of school or anytime during the first week. All icebreaker activities are available in French or English so you can use these with students who speak little or no French, too!

This set of French icebreakers includes the following activities:

1. Find someone who - in the same format as all of my Find someone who... activities, on a printable grid sheet with decorative border. Includes and English and French version and printable follow-up pages with the same questions that you can assign to have students turn in.

2. Would you rather? (in French or English) - printed on task cards, 28 questions in all. You can pass these out to students, use them as seated partner speaking activities, or put them on the wall and allow students to move through the questions with a partner. I give one question to each student and have them do an around the world activity.

Also includes Would you rather...? interview style with student writing pages for partner's answers.

The following questions are on a printable page that can be projected or handed out. Both activities are provided entirely in French and entirely in English.

Each activity is also available on a printable page if you would prefer a handout.

The following ice-breakers are also included with no-prep writing pages to save you time!

3. I'm someone who would...

4. A deserted island -

5. Two truths and a lie

This PDF now has an interactive layer on the writing pages so you can assign it to your students through Google Classroom. I've added text boxes so students can type right on this document. This is great for distance learning! Find it by clicking "Open Easel Activity" after you purchase this PDF.

The goal of this activity is to get to know each other. If appropriate, have your students speak as much French as possible, but remember that this is sometimes hard after summer break!

You can mix these up and use them as bell ringers for the entire first week!

⚠️This document is not editable and will not be provided in an editable format. Thank you for understanding.
