What is phonics?
Understanding the relationship between written letters and spoken sounds.
Why use these slides?
Learning the alphabetic principle with a systematic and explicit routine is effective for your students. It should include teaching letter formations and names, phonics and phonemic awareness.
- Use this slide deck as part of your literacy routine
- Easily teach phonics skills with this no prep digital slideshow
- Each letter will have students practice the letter sound, provide examples of words with the sound, reinforce letter formation and more

What is included:
1. Letter formation (uppercase and lowercase)
2. Animated letter formation to show air tracing (not included for complex sounds)
3. 2 embedded videos to show letter formation in action as well as forming with playdough (single letter formation only)
4. 1 embedded video to animated literacy song
5. Additional embedded videos
6. Words that begin with that letter or have the sound in it
7. Slide to add more words
8. Mouth formation slide
9. Up to 10 slides showing syllable formation with sound. Includes green and red token under each letter as well as arrow to show we read from left to right
10. Uncover the syllables game. Students slide the image and see what syllable is underneath - PLAYED IN EDIT MODE
11. QUEL MOT EST-CE - these slides help build on vocabulary. You will show the students the image slide then have them A.) say the word B.) count the sounds in the word C.) assign a grapheme (letter) to each phoneme (sound) they heard
D.) write the letter together. These are currently included in complex sounds only. I will be going back to the beginning slides and adding as the year progresses.
