What educators are saying

This is so helpful to have this on hand and prep my emergency binder, clearly labeled and easy for an Occasional teacher to find.
This was a helpful resource when I needed emergency sub plans for Core French. Lots of options that make it easy to follow, whether you speak French or not.

Description

This substitute handbook is perfect to have ready to go for whenever you might need a supply teacher this school year! Use the EDITABLE templates (sample text included) to share all of your schedules, lists, classroom procedures, and routines with your sub. Emergency lesson plans are also included for those times when it’s just not be possible to write out your day plans, but you still want your students to be engaged and learning in French.

5 Emergency lessons for core French learners that are engaging, stand-alone lessons with meaningful objectives that can be taught by English-speaking substitute teachers. This is my FAVOURITE part of this resource! You won’t need to scramble in the early morning hours to put your plans together, and you’ll never have to worry about whether your sub is comfortable teaching in French!

Topics include

  1. Qu’est-ce que c’est ? – a drawing activity to explore French and English cognates (and les faux amis) (suitable for grades 4-5)
  2. est mon prof de français ? – a word search to discover Francophone places in the world (with an option to provide more challenge) (suitable for grades 4-8)
  3. Discutons ! – an oral communication board game to discuss preferences (suitable for grades 5-8)
  4. Google Translate ou le dictionnaire ? – a lesson to learn French expressions AND the limitations of Google Translate (suitable for grades 6-8)
  5. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk – a listening activity (in English) to highlight the benefits of learning another language (suitable for grades 7-8)

These 40-50 minute lessons are either ready to print and assign, need minimal prep, or are tech-based and require the students to have access to a device. Detailed instructions and answer keys are included for your supply teacher. Please note that the emergency lessons are NOT editable, though a blank template has been included.

A Teacher How-to Guide to walk you through the set-up and editing of your sub binder.
