Description
This comprehensive resource of FRENCH CLASSROOM EXPRESSIONS contains the following in a ZIP file:
• 2 SETS OF BILINGUAL REFERENCE CHARTS:
STUDENT TALK (4 pages, 100+ expressions)
These are the expressions that students would need to converse with the teacher and between themselves on a daily basis in a French classroom. To encourage students to chat spontaneously amongst themselves, there is a sub-section entitled "Casual Conversations".
TEACHER TALK (3 pages, 100+ expressions)
These are the expressions and directives teachers need to conduct a French language classroom.
• POWERPOINT SLIDESHOWS
Separate PowerPoint slideshows for each expression in the Student Talk and Teacher Talk Reference Charts.
• LES TEXTOS (PowerPoint)
A 14-page slideshow showing Student Talk expressions that can be represented by French texting symbols.
• WORD WALL MINI POSTERS
All of the Student Talk expressions have been placed on a half page (landscape) or full page (landscape). Ideal for printing on coloured paper, laminating, and posting on a classroom wall or bulletin board to encourage and facilitate oral participation.
Suggestions for Classroom Use:
For the lists of expressions:
- Print out the lists for students to use as binder inserts for reference for the entire year. Some of my students keep them from middle school all the way to the end of high school and through to Adult Education.
- Print out the lists on paper or cardstock of your choice and place them in page protectors. Attach with binder rings for multiple sets of in-class reference sheets.
For the word wall mini posters of STUDENT TALK expressions:
- Print off on regular paper or cardstock and post on classroom walls or bulletin boards.
- Print off the word wall mini posters for the section "Casual Conversations" on brightly coloured paper to encourage more spontaneous communication.
- As a class warm-up activity, hand out the laminated mini posters to students to act as flash cards. Start by making a verbal statement or exclamation. The student holding the card that has a natural response to what you said holds up the card and reads aloud the word or expression. You can continue to give more verbal examples to the class or ask a student to take the lead and make a statement or exclamation.
