French Adjectives (adjectifs)

This interactive flipchart for Promethean/Activ Board is a great introductory French lesson for teaching adjectives. After listing the objectives, the lesson opens with a review of French pronunciation. The next page teaches vocabulary words with color-coded terms. This flipchart contains interactive games that students may play on the Activ Board. These games include: matching, spelling activity with missing letters, and a “What Am I?” game that allows students to use French adjectives to describe pictures (students can drag the terms to the picture on the Activ Board). Following this, is a slide that allows the class to review and close the lesson. Last, is an individual journal activity. For this, you can break your class into groups, so that they are all working on different journal entries, or you can pick one and have the entire class do it.

*The suggested grade level of this lesson varies on the students’ prior knowledge of the French language. In my opinion, it is suitable for grades 2-7, but students above or below these grades may also benefit, depending on prior knowledge and concepts.
