Free Voluntary Reading Bundle

Start free voluntary reading (student-directed reading/independent reading) in the first week of the first semester! This is a set of three Latin/English readers suitable for absolute beginner students.

Each page has a simple Latin sentence with an illustration on the front, repeated on the back of with an English translation added underneath the sentence. This format empowers students to read the Latin independently and then confirm or refine their understanding when they turn the page and see the English. This makes them a great option for free reading in the beginning of students' Latin study - they won't need to come ask you vocabulary question after vocabulary question!

To make the booklet: When printing, make sure you select double sided and flip on short edge. Fold the packet on the center line and staple.

Included stories:

1. Actaeon happens upon Diana bathing naked in a cave, she transforms him into a stag, and his own hounds kill him.
2. Theseus enters the labyrinth and vanquishes the Minotaur, thanks to Ariadne's help, then abandons her on an island.
3. Pygmalion falls in love with a statue he sculpted, creepily gives it gifts, and is crushed when it falls on top of him (the last part is not cannon).
