Description
This short script on the Math topic FRACTIONS was written to be performed by many elementary school speakers—even a whole class. Reading and rehearsing the script reinforces the names and properties of fractions while also increasing reading fluency and engaging students in a dramatic approach to learning facts.
It appears in my book DRAMATIZING THE CONTENT WITH CURRICULUM-BASED READERS THEATRE, originally published by The International Reading Association. When the book went out of print, all rights were reverted to me, so I decided to offer this script on Teachers Pay Teachers.
The script is written for several solo speakers with many parts for ALL so that teachers can use it with a whole class. Students enjoy creating and performing gestures and sound effects where indicated in the stage directions. And—because it is a script—they do not mind reading and re-reading the information. Rosalind Flynn offers this Curriculum-Based Readers Theatre script—one of many she has created with students and teachers across the United States.
