Description

This resource contains five different anchor charts to help students learn about fractions

To be more specific, the anchor charts help students to understand

  • key vocabulary with respect to fractions
  • how to add fractions
  • how to subtract fractions
  • how to multiply fractions
  • how to divide fractions

This product also includes directions on how you can enlarge these anchor charts for free! Having the ability to see these charts from anywhere in the room has, in particular, really helped my ELL and SPED students master these challenging concepts.

Possible uses for this product include

  • enlarge and use as classroom decor
  • include as a part of an interactive notebook
  • print on the back of homework assignments
  • send to absent students to help them catch up on missed classroom instruction

These anchor charts come in color as well as in black and white.

Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators (including mixed numbers) by replacing given fractions with equivalent fractions in such a way as to produce an equivalent sum or difference of fractions with like denominators. For example, 2/3 + 5/4 = 8/12 + 15/12 = 23/12. (In general, 𝘢/𝘣 + 𝘤/𝘥 = (𝘢𝘥 + 𝘣𝘤)/𝘣𝘥.)
Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction or whole number by a fraction.
Apply and extend previous understandings of division to divide unit fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by unit fractions.
