Forensics | Blood Spatter Analysis Create-A-Crime-Scene Final Project (EDITABLE)
What educators are saying
Description
This is a 2 part project on blood spatter, the types and how to analyze them. In this project students are to set up their crime scene based on a story they create. Another group will then analyze their groups crime scene to see what the blood spatter can tell them. This project is used to asses how well students understand the types of blood spatter and how they are caused and how blood spatter analysts look at blood when they encounter a new crime scene.
Included in this project is:
- outline for part 1 (creating the story and the crime scene)
- blood spatter reference guide
- blood spatter class examples
- checklist for part 2 (analyzing another group's crime scene)
- 2 examples of a student report
- rubric for part 1 and 2
- Student directions with a day to day breakdown with how I ran the project
- EDITABLE version of everything!
To do this project in your class you will need:
- butcher paper or poster paper for students to create the blood spatter patterns
- fake blood (like vampire blood from halloween stores)
- some tools to create blood spatter (I used toothbrushes, gloves, small plastic pipettes and they were able to create mostly every type of spatter with just those!)
