    Grade Level: K-2

    Learning outcomes:

    It is expected that students will: 

    • Recognize that healthy foods give people energy and help them grow, learn, and play. 
    • Identify and explore a variety of foods and describe how they contribute to health.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of which foods fuel them and which foods don’t.
    • Recognize that fruits and vegetables give people energy and help them grow
    • Identify a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables 
    • Demonstrate an understanding of ways to incorporate these colorful carbohydrates into their daily diet 
    • Recognize what foods improve the garden in their belly and what foods hurt it
    • Identify what the gut microbiome is and how it contributes to their overall health
    • Demonstrate an understanding of what foods help their gut and what foods hurt it
    • Recognize that they have the power to improve their mood, thinking, and ability to learn by what they put in their mouth
    • Identify what foods fuel their brain and contribute to their overall health 
    • Demonstrate an understanding of what foods help them become better learners and what foods hinder them
