Description
If your class is learning about food sustainability and are looking for a comprehensive unit, look no further. Within this money-saving bundle you will find two resources that teachers love! NO PREP REQUIRED.
Included:
1. Presentation: This includes 16 informational slides on carbon footprints, sustainable diets and farming practices, eating locally, buying seasonal foods and avoiding food waste.
Worksheets: There are 8 questions with an answer key. The questions correspond with the presentation + one question that requires additional research. Use this sheet for marks if you wish (out of 12 - as seen on page).
2. The Project:The project description will explain to students how to successfully complete a ‘Food Audit’. Students will be collecting data on their household food practices and presenting a report to the rest of the class. This can be done as a formal presentation, gallery walk-through style or however else you see fit. Students will be looking for things like: The carbon footprint of their meals, whether foods are purchased locally, whether foods are in season and what the households food waste strategies are.
Rubric:There is a rubric included which consists of 5 categories (Understanding of Food sustainability, Data collection, Analysis, Recommendations and Presentation) & an area for feedback.
