Description
Students will match food name/picture cards with food learning mats. They will also sort and classify food into food groups. There are many ways to play. For students just learning the names of the food, they will choose a card (with picture) and find the matching food on their food mat. They will cover up the corresponding food with an item of your choice (for example: coins, counters, gamepieces, gems, small toys, pompoms, etc.) Another more challenging way to play is for students to read the “name” cards and then find the corresponding food on their food mat. Finally, students must match the food card to the correct food group. Food group mats, and card titles are both included so this activity can be done in a pocket chart or on a desk.
