Florida BEST Standards | 2nd Grade ELA I Can Statements, Objective, and EQs
- PDF
Description
Florida B.E.S.T. Standards for 2nd grade include I Can Statements, Essential Questions, and Objectives as well as heading options. Including all three gives you options and ensures that you have what you need for your walk-throughs. These cards will make it clear to students and administrators what is being covered in class.
My preference is the essential questions cards, as I feel this makes for a more inquiry-based experience. One option is to ask the essential question at the beginning of the lesson and ask students to ponder this question as they learn. Refer to this question throughout your lesson. Then at the conclusion of the lesson ask the EQ again. This is a perfect time to check for understanding with a quick exit ticket on a stickie note or using a thumbs up/down/or sideways to determine if students feel they understand. This makes for a great review. (Can you say Highly Effective?!)
These are the Florida BEST Standards that were adopted in 2020.
These cards are the perfect size for your standards feature board and do not take up an entire page. The font is large enough to see from a distance and includes cheerful graphics to make them more appealing for students.
