Description

This is a Smart Board presentation with step-by-step picture instructions on how to make floam, which is a styrofoam-goo mixture. The consistency is like ooblek. It's made of styrofoam cups, borax, glue, water, and (optional) food coloring.

I had my middle school students in the multiple disabilities self-contained classroom complete these steps with the help of my paraprofessional.

The pictures are from News 2 You, and go along with every step. In this activity, they are measuring, following directions, identifying measuring cups and spoons, and choosing their own color. They even combined colors (red+blue=purple) for some added science learning! In the end, there is a writing assignment.

I had my students partner up to encourage teamwork and collaboration. You can edit that to put in your own student names, or delete the slide altogether!

We did this activity the day we came back from Thanksgiving break as a little transition back into the school routine.
